Director Peter Woditsch attempts to track down these lost and forgotten treasures, which are concealed in bank safes, behind thick walls and secret doors of the Vatican, in special warehouses of the Louvre, in alcoves of universities and the British Library, in private homes. In a world in which erotic images abound in magazines, television, videos and on the Internet, why is this art so forbidding, so powerful? Why does it need to be destroyed, hidden or ignored?
