A dive into the mental state of the freedom-fighter: They are Belgian and they are in their nineties. Resistance makes you tough. Their memories are vivid. Stan was a pupil at the Athénée royal in Koekelberg, Ulysse a medical student at ULB. The two old resistance fighters delight in delving back through the dirty tricks that they played on the occupying forces without being caught. This is History on a human scale. The protagonists are not just humans, but humans at their best, with their noblest urges, where courage is combined with trickery, where inventiveness joins forces with intelligence and boldness, and cooperation serves a refusal to give in.
