"The flats" and "Marching in the dark" awarded at CPH:DOX 2024!

Two French-speaking Belgian coproductions received a prize at the Danish festival

CPH:DOX (Copenhagen) is one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world. This year, the 21st edition of the festival will take place from March 13th to 24th, 2024. No less than five films co-produced by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation have been selected in various categories.

In competition, Alessandra Celesia's The Flats (Thank You & Goodnight Productions) received the DOX:AWARD, the festival's top prize.

In his apartment at the top of a high-rise building in New Lodge (Belfast), Joe reconstructs his childhood during the armed conflict that tore through Northern Ireland until 1998. Jolene, Sean, and Angie join him to revisit their collective memory, which has shaped their lives and their neighborhood.

In the HUMAN:RIGHTS AWARD section, Kinshuk Surjan's Marching in the Dark (Clin d'oeil Films) received a Special Mention from the jury.

Also featured were Soundtrack to a Coup d'état by Johan Grimonprez (Onomatopée Films, ARTISTS & AUTEURS), Bye Bye Tiberias by Lina Soualem (Altitude 100, HIGHLIGHTS), and Blueberry Dreams by Elena Mikaberidze (Iota Production, NEXT:WAVE AWARD).

It is worth noting that a delegation of three producers from Wallonia-Brussels participated in the Forum, the festival's professional component: Isabel de la Serna (Playtime Films), Sergio Ghizzardi (Domino Production), and Vincent Metzinger (Naoko Films). For several days, they had the opportunity to take part in various meetings and roundtable discussions.
