Three Belgian films in the first festival on Minecraft®!

Wallonie Bruxelles Images is partnering with Unifrance to offer a unique cinematic experience to internet users worldwide through MyMetaStories. This innovative festival will showcase young European cinema online from October 6th to 29th, 2023.

This innovative initiative, led by Unifrance and supported by Wallonie Bruxelles Images and Creative Europe, presents a film festival featuring European short and feature films, offering a revolutionary digital experience.

Indeed, the MyMetaStories experience will take place in the metaverse of the Minecraft® video game, where festival-goers can immerse themselves in a specially created world dedicated to European cinema. This metaverse will be accessible in English, French, and Spanish and will include exclusive screenings in the very first virtual cinema in Minecraft®, movie-inspired mini-games, and opportunities for young cinephiles to connect with players from around the world.

This exceptional project called MyMetaStories reimagines the cinematic experience by showcasing films for the first time within Minecraft®, the video game with the largest player community in the world. This experience will take place from October 13th to 16th, 2023, in Minecraft®.

The festival will also be accessible on traditional digital platforms, including the festival's website MyMetaStories.eu, where films will be subtitled in German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. Furthermore, it will be available on around twenty video-on-demand (VoD) platforms, both globally and locally.

Internet users will have the opportunity to explore a selection of twenty films, including seven feature films and thirteen short films, showcasing the incredible richness and diversity of European cinema. From comedy to romance, drama to thriller, science fiction to animation, there will be something for everyone's taste.

Three Belgian films are part of this selection: Mother Schmuckers by Lenny and Harpo Guit, which can be viewed on traditional digital platforms, as well as the short films With Thelma by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni and Les liaisons foireuses by Chloé Alliez and Violette Delvoye, which can be discovered both on these platforms and within Minecraft.
