"A life like any other" awarded at Dok Leipzig 2022

Faustine Cros' documentary "A life like any other" won the Silver Dove Award at the 2022 edition of the Dok Leipzig Festival. In total, two French-speaking Belgian productions were competing in the international competition.

The Dok Leipzig Festival is recognised as Germany's largest documentary festival, it is one of the leading international festivals for art documentaries. Each year, many documentaries from all over the world are presented to a large audience. This year, two French-speaking Belgian productions have been selected.

One of them is Faustine Cros' film A life like any other, selected in the international competition and which had its world premiere during the festival. Produced by Dérives, the movie reflect the own youth of the director.  It won the Silver Dove Award.

My father immortalized in family films what he considered to be the most beautiful moments of his life, while my mother’s difficulties struck the blind spot of his images. Today, I explore the dark side of my childhood films and my own memory, to reconstruct the portrait of my mother struggling with motherhood.

The INSAS student film Days of fishing, directed by Lucien Lepoutre & Benjamin Grinand, was competing for the Public Short Film Award.

In the open ocean, a crew is fishing tirelessly day and night. The work is hard and, in the middle of this deafening and remote universe, the tireless crew tries to find balance.

Also noteworthy is the presence of Alain Ughetto's animated film No Dogs or Italians Allowed, co-produced by Lux Fugit Film. The movie will be presented out of competition as the opening film of the festival.

The 2022's edition of Dok Leipzig took place from 17 to 23 October.
