Three French-speaking Belgian films selected for the Fantastic Fest in Austin!
"Heads Or Fails", "Night Call" and "Maldoror" are part of the 19th edition of the American festival!
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the US, championing challenging and thought-provoking cinema while celebrating new voices and new stories from filmmakers around the world. They collaborate with other festivals, archives, cinematheques, and individuals to spotlight lesser-known film regions and luminaries in an ongoing effort to expand the general knowledge and appreciation of cinema.
Heads Or Fails by Lenny & Harpo Guit will have its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest, taking place in Austin, Texas. The film is produced by Roue Libre Production and internationally distributed by Best Friend Forever.
Brussels, today. Armande Pigeon is the queen of the shenanigans. In Brussels, she struggles to make ends meet because she can’t stop gambling on everything, always ending up on the wrong side of luck. When she teams up with Ronnie one night, everything changes – they win it all. And when you hit a winning streak, you have to know when to stop.
Michiel Blanchart's debut film Night Call is also selected for the American festival, where it will have its North American premiere. The film is produced by Boucan Production and internationally sold by Gaumont. After its world premiere at the Nouvelles Vagues festival last June, the film continues its international selections, including screenings at SITGES and Busan.
This night seems like any other for Mady, a student by day, locksmith by night. But Claire, the mysterious young woman he helps that evening, is not who she claims to be. This door does not belong to her apartment. And the bag she is desperately trying to recover is not hers, but Yannick’s, a man to whom Mady will soon have to answer. Caught in a relentless chase, Mady has only one night to prove his innocence in a city on the brink of chaos. One night to save his own skin.
Additionally, Maldoror by Fabrice Du Welz, produced by Frakas Productions and sold internationally by WTFilms, will also be part of the 2024 Fantastic Fest program for its North American premiere. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is selected for BFI 2024.
