Two Belgian films awarded at Molodist!
"Dalva" by Emmanuelle Nicot has won the Grand Prix and "Le Paradis" by Zeno Graton has received the Best Feature Film award at the Molodist Festival !
This weekend marked the closing of the 52nd edition of the Kyiv International Film Festival, which took place from October 21 to October 29, 2023. The jury of Molodist (Ukraine's most important film festival that specifically rewards debut works) has awarded its two top prizes to French-speaking Belgian productions.
Emmanuelle Nicot's film Love According to Dalva had the honor of receiving the festival's Grand Prix! The film is produced by Hélicotronc and is distributed internationally by Mk2.
Dalva is 12 years old but dresses, wears make-up, and thinks of herself as a grown woman. One evening, she is abruptly removed from her father's home. First revolting in total incomprehension, she meets Jayden, a social worker, and Samia, a teenager with a strong character. A new life seems to be opening up for Dalva: the one of a girl of her own age.
The Best Feature Film award in the international selection was given to Zeno Graton's The Lost Boys. This film, produced by Tarantula and internationally distributed by Indie Sales, narrates the story of Joe, 17, about to be released from a youth detention center. Should the judge approve his liberation, he will be allowed to live on his own. But when a new detainee arrives in his facility, Joe starts to question his desire for freedom.
Congratulations to our two Belgian productions for these wonderful awards!
