A large Wallonia-Brussels delegation in Palm Springs

The Palm Springs International Film Festival has unveiled the program for its 2023 edition. Four Franco-Belgian productions and three co-productions are among the titles selected for this edition.

After a 2022 edition postponed to June due to the health crisis, the Palm Springs International Film Festival returns in 2023 for its 29th edition. This year’s program includes four Franco-Belgian productions and three co-productions. The film Tori and Lokita by the Dardenne brothers will feature in the Modern Masters section. The film was produced by the film production company Les Films du Fleuve and screened last May at Cannes.

Emmanuelle Nicot's first film was produced by Hélicotronc. It was also shown at Cannes during the Critics’ Week and is now featured here in the New Voices New Visions section.

I Have Electric Dreams by Valentina Maurel, which is also a first feature film produced by Wrong Men, will be screened in the Cine Latino section.

Finally, Christophe Rolin’s film Talia’s Journey (produced by Bande de Ciné) will be shown in the World Cinema Now section.

What is also noteworthy is the fact that there are four Franco-Belgian co-productions: Close by Lukas Dhont (Versus Production) and The Blue Caftan by Maryam Touzani (Velvet Films) in competition for the Best International Feature Film, as well as The Damned Don’t Cry by Fyzal Boulifa (Frakas Productions) in the New Voices New Visions section.

Two Belgian film production companies, Les Films du Fleuve and Frakas productions, are also acknowledged in the credits of two selected films. Those two films are R.M.N by Cristian Mungiu and Return to Seoul by Davy Chou.

The next edition of the Palm Springs Festival was held from January 5 to 16, 2023.
