Annecy Festival 2024: Two French-speaking Belgian short films in competition!

"Head In The Clouds" and "Silent Panorama" are selected in competition in the 48th edition of the Annecy Festival

Every year, Annecy inspires and captivates the world with the rhythm of animation, showcasing the dynamism and creative richness of this industry. From the exclusive presentation of the latest animated masterpieces to demonstrations of current and future trends, along with encounters with seasoned directors and emerging talents, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival is a moment of celebration and excitement against the backdrop of an exceptional natural setting.

Nicolas Piret's Silent Panorama is selected in the competitive Perspectives section. The film, produced by Zorobabel, had already been selected at Rotterdam earlier in the year.

In the midst of nature, at the foot of a cliff, two campers intrigued by external noises traverse deserted landscapes, flashlight in hand. Cracking, trickling, and other sounds will bring these places to life, harboring a silent, almost invisible fauna, yet undeniably present. This film was drawn and animated alone on a single sheet of paper in the form of a performance.

Head In The Clouds by Rémi Durin, produced by La Boîte,... Productions, is selected for the Young Audience competition at the animation festival. The film has received numerous selections at international festivals, including the Regard Festival and Stuttgart.

Alphonse, a little squirrel, always has his head in the clouds. He loves to contemplate them and sometimes even take photos of them. Neither his parents nor his friends really understand this passion. Yet, gazing at clouds is not without its challenges. Alphonse must sometimes show a certain courage worthy of the greatest explorers.

Regarding co-productions, we find two feature films co-produced by French-speaking Belgian companies in the Feature Film Competition, two films that will have had their world premiere just a few days prior at Cannes: The Most Precious of Cargoes by Michel Hazanavicius, co-produced by Les Films du Fleuve, and Sauvages by Claude Barras, co-produced by Panique!.

Let's also highlight the presence of the Belgian company Take Five in the credits of the feature film Flow by Gints Zilbalodis.

See you in Annecy from June 9th to 15th, 2024!
