"The New Man" selected at Hot Docs 2024

Hot Docs (Toronto) has included Carlos Yuri Ceuninck's documentary in its 2024 selection

Hot Docs is the largest festival, congress, and market for documentaries in North America. Each year, the festival presents a selection of over 180 cutting-edge documentaries from Canada and around the world. Through its industry programs, Hot Docs also provides a comprehensive range of professional development, market, and networking opportunities for documentary professionals.

Carlos Yuri Ceuninck's The New Man has been selected in the World Showcase section of the festival. The film, produced by Néon Rouge Production, will have its North American premiere there.

QUIRINO, a 76-year-old man, has been living for over 30 years in an abandoned village at the bottom of a deep valley, between the sea and the mountains. As he begins to feel his age catching up with him, Quirino is faced with the dilemma of either leaving the only place he has ever known or spending his remaining days there.

Also noteworthy is the presence of three French-speaking Belgian co-productions: Rising up at night by Nelson Makengo (Twenty Nine Studio & Production, World Showcase), Marching in the Dark by Kinshuk Surjan (Clin d'oeil Films, World Showcase), and Drawing a Line by Sama Pana (Clin d'oeil Films, Art of Resistance). All three co-productions will also have their North American premieres there.

Mark your calendars for Toronto from April 25th to May 5th!
