For its 38th edition, AFI FEST has selected Silent Panorama by Nicolas Piret, produced by Zorobabel, in the Short Film Competition - Animation. The animated short film has already been featured in numerous international festivals, including IFFR, the Annecy Festival, and TIFF in Toronto.
In the midst of nature, at the foot of a cliff, two campers, intrigued by external noises, wander through the deserted landscapes with a flashlight in hand. Cracking, trickling, and other sounds will bring these places to life, inhabited by a silent, almost invisible, yet very present fauna. This film was drawn and animated alone on a single sheet of paper as a performance.
Let's also highlight the presence of French-speaking Belgian co-productions Vermiglio by Maura Delpero (Versus production, World Cinema) and Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat by Johan Grimonprez (Onomatopée Films, Documentary).
See you in Los Angeles from October 23 to 27, 2024!
